Whats the best approach to getting into the mining industry in Australia?
I live in new Zealand and want to shift over to Australia (maybe WA) because I hear they pay very good wages in the mines. I have all my NZ truck licenses and experience driving trucks forklifts and loaders. I’ve also had a job running a mobile concrete plant on site at a new prison construction project. I’m currently working on a fishing boat so dealing with hard work/ isolation won’t be a issue. Can i automatically get my aussie truck licences because of my NZ licences? I have 1,2,3,4,5,6,f,W. Will company’s help me get over and settled? What pay can should I be looking for? I’m 26 and want to get a high paying position. is there any pit falls i should be careful of? Its a big move and i want to be sure im sorted before i go. please give as much information and advice even if it seems trival. thak you.

Most companies will help you out, but you will have to pass a test to get your license transferred. The pay will be about the same as it is in NZ until you’ve been with the company for awhile and I would visit there first and check out the local jobs before up and moving and losing the job you have right now.
