Does any one have any good info. on bottom fishing charters in Hawaii.I’m planning a trip there and love to bottom fish.What species can I expect,what prices can I expect,are there allot of choices of captians? Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

I admit, I’ve only been fishing for those kind of fish a couple of times, all of my experience comes workin/fishing in AK, but I’m moving to a tropical area in about a year, and I’d like to set up shop there. Besides lures and poles and the basics, what kind of stuff will I need, and how big a boat (I know "people have chaught 700lb marlin from a rowboat!…and all of that crap, but I mean, to have 4 guests (my ideal #) a deckhan and myself, with room to hold the catch for a full day charter). When I Deck handed for a friend in Hawaii, he had a 42 foot hatteras that was awesome, but I could see getting by with less, at least to get started, but maybe that’s how big you need…?

Did anyone else hear about the ruling the judge made in New Zealand against parents naming their children odd names?

The name that caused him to make this ruling was a 9-year-old named "Talulah Does The Hula From Hawaii". Other names that were changed were "Sex Fruit", "Keenan Got Lucy" and "Fish and Chips".

When I first heard about this ruling about a judge changing odd names, I thought it was invasive on basic human rights, until I heard what the names were.

What are your thoughts?
**EDIT** The parents were going through a divorce and a judge was looking through the papers and saw the girls name listed. That’s how he got involved.

New Zealand law does not allow names that would cause offense to a reasonable person, among other conditions.

Registration officials blocked some names, including Fish and Chips, Yeah Detroit, Keenan Got Lucy and Sex Fruit. But others were allowed, including Number 16 Bus Shelter "and tragically, Violence,".

Judge Rob Murfitt made the 9-year-old girl a ward of the court so that her name could be changed from Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii.

"The court is profoundly concerned about the very poor judgment which this child’s parents have shown in choosing this name," he wrote. "It makes a fool of the child and sets her up with a social disability and handicap, unnecessarily."

The girl had been so embarrassed at the name that she had never told her closest friends what it was. She told people to call her "K" instead.

Should US judges have the same right?

After seeing some of the proposed names on this site, I’m beginning to think so.

He has been to Hawaii, and fly fishing in Jellystone National park and off to Marthas Vineyard. Are there any other destinations I have missed? I guess for someone having some troubles in his office, that would be a good place to avoid.

At least I can catch up on the yard work on my staycation..
btw, staycation is not a word. but I hear plenty about how our family should stay home and take one. Might be a good idea for politicians to stay abreast of what yahoo’s are doing, like staying home…

I don’t have a boat and i don’t have the money to go out on a charter although i might look for a local to take me out for 100 bucks or so. I’ve never fished hawaii before and i have no idea what kind of sports fish are over there. i am an experienced fisherman.

I’m moving to back to Hawaii soon, and want to puschase a sports fishing boat. What is the best type of boat? Sea Ray Cruiser? Cruisers? Sportcrafts? Can someone please give me some advise, I’m disabled so I need to buy a reasonable priced 30-40 ft sports fishing boat, and I would like to live on the boat, sometimes to get away from society out side stress. NOTE: The boat must be for salt water use only….
